Well, right now, I'm sitting in a computer lab, i just got done with my Biology recitatation, it was retarded, the lady is from the Carribbean and can't speak English very well, it wouldnt be so bad if she didn't talk so freakin' fast!!! But between her accent and her speed i dont get half of what she says. Oh well? I know most of you will hate me for this but I am also listening to Frankie J right now. But whatever you guys have to say about him, i like him and i think that it's relaxing music. Oh, on a much "awesomer" note, i found the most amazing movie that you all need to watch. Go to my myspace and click on the movie in my Who I Want To Meet section, its crazy awesome. Uhmm, thats pretty much been everything that's new with me.

Oh Joy, if you're reading this, i have looked for you every time i go near that intersection, and i've never seen you, what's up with that???

A Whirlwind of New Ideas, Old Dreams, and Missed Opportunities

"All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we
leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we
can enter another." ~Anatole France

I put this picture up because it accurately portrays how I'm feeling right now. A lone object looking down, or up, at the dizzying swirls of changing circumstances. It's an interesting feeling, not one of anger, joy, excitement, pleasure, or pain. It's not nearly such a tangible feeling. It's a feeling of, in a way, sadness, mixed with resignation, stemming from so much uncertainty. It's amazing how we get caught up in our little worlds, only to have them utterly transformed in a matter of weeks, days; hours. How we put so much stock in things that really have such little value. We can spend an entire lifetime building up security for ourselves only to have our world come crashing down around us. It's funny, in a resigned sort of way. Why do we do what we do? We do, and surround ourselves with, things that will please us and make us comfortable, even though we know that, sooner than we expect, they will be snatched out from underneath our very feet. When this does happen as it either has or will to everyone sooner or later, we're caught completely offguard even though we knew it was coming all along. Strange how that works.

Purdue and a Tribute to Jared

Well today was my first day at Purdue. It was definitely a new experience. Going from Faith to Purdue is a really big adjustment. I've determind that there are at least as many buildings at Purdue as there were rooms at Faith. I missed my first class today because of the traffic. It took me 50 minutes to get to school from my house! I was REALLY angry. Not a very good start to the day. It got better though. I met up with Shawn and Jenni. Shawn had a class to go to so Jenni and i walked around for a while. Then i did some other random stuff which doesn't really matter and now i'm posting all about it. I don't have class until 12:30 tomorrow so i'm really excited about that. If any of you guys wanna hang out in the next week or so give me a call. I'd really like to see everyone before they leave, or start school in earnest, etc...

On to a different subject ~

I would like to say just a few words about Jared. I know he'll probably never read this, but I'm going to say it anyways for my benefit and for anyone else who may read this. Jared was a great friend, one of the best i've ever had. We were friends when we were both homeschooled, and we became better and better friends as the years went by; Jared was my friend, my advisor, and my relationship counselor. Jared taught me so many things, he helped me adjust to Faith, and brought me into his great circle of friends. He stood beside me, always there if i needed his help or his advice. If i was ever having a bad day i knew i could count on him to help and to cheer me up. He stood up for me and befriended me and i wanted to take a moment to thank him.

I would also like to say that if anyone has anything special to say about or to Jared, or a memory they would like to share please just leave a comment. Maybe someday when Jared gets back I can show him through this post how much he meant to and influenced his friends, and everyone around him.

oil and water don't mix... they explode

Well just to give you a quick update on my life.

- I still work at Arby's
- I still have a cell phone (so call me)
- I start college on August 21st

They're have been a few new and exciting things going on lately.

After closing at Arby's one night, Shannon, Matt and I decided to walk over to Wal-Mart for a few minutes. As we were crossing 26, Matt and Shannon dared me to lay down in the middle of the intersection. That was interesting. But hey i lived to tell about it so "what the heck." Another interesting thing that happened occured when i was dumping friers at Arby's. For those of you who don't know, dumping friers is when you take all the old oil out of the friers and replace it with nice clean oil. Pretty simple... unless you mix really hot water with really hot oil. In that case, as i learned, stand back 'cuz things are gonna start poppin'. That was TOTALLY AWESOME. Anyway...

Other than that i went to a pool party, saw some old friends, went to tropicanoe cove, worked out a few times, gave away some curly fries and potatoe bites, got a little older and a little fatter.

Oh about this dancing thing. I'm sick of going around the bush with this, if anyone can come up with a good way to either prove i can dance or go down trying, please, leave me a comment.

Ramblings of an Arby's Employee

I'm sorry i haven't posted in forever, but probably like everyone else this summer, i've been REALLY busy, so let me bring you all up to speed.

As most of you know i am THE not so proud employee of Arby's. Now you might be wondering why i said "THE not so proud employee" as opposed to "A not so proud employee." Lemme give you a couple of reasons why.

1.) I'm one of two employees currently employed at Arby's who can perform all the tasks required by the job with anything like proficiency
2.) I work more hours than most of the managers (usually in excess of 40 hours per week.)
3.) I work all shifts except opening. These include lunch, dinner, afternoon, evening and closing, often until 3 or 4 am.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, i have had some great and fun times at Arby's. I'll tell you about some of the funniest, and coolest times that i've had.

Story #1

One day Laila and I were on backline (where you make all the sandwiches) and everything was done and we were really bored. So we put our heads together and decided that we should play hacky-sac. Our next question was what to use for our make-shift hacky-sac. We decided to use a pack of marinara sauce, and so we did. IT WAS AWESOME!!! We had a great time. If you don't believe me i have pictures on my cell phone.

Story #2

All great stories seem to begin on backline. Anyways, one evening Eulalio and i were on backline, when suddenly Eulalio disappeared. About 10 minutes later he came through the back door with a BK bag, turns out he got some BK for himself and then a sandwich for our manager. Naturally, i wasn't gonna let it go down like that. So i was like "where the heck is mine!?!?!?" He responded by telling me to grab an order of mozzarella sticks and head over to BK and i could get some free food. Of course i was like "SWEET!" and so that's what i did. Turns out i had to pay for the food because of some extinuating circumstances, but hey at least i got some BK. (Daniel, it was good to see you, I'm expecting you to hook me up with some free food next time.) Needless to say that was a pretty good night.

Story #3

Another day i was working during the afternoon. To justify our actions, i have to say that we were really bored because business had been really slow all day. We have a radio on backline, and we were listening to 96.5. Then someone started ummm... "moving to the beat." Everyone working knew more or less how to hmmm "break it down," (yes rebecca i have been working on it and am getting better if i do say so myself, but i still can't spin on my head, oh well.) So, since we were all bored we all started dancing and, it escalated.... We were getting ready to dance couples when our General Manager showed up, so we thought it was best to stop. (Our manager not only participated in this escapade, he started it!)

There are a bunch of other stories i could tell, but i won't burden you with any more, assuming that you've made it this far.

Other than work, i've been doing stuff around the house, and trying to do something with friends whenever i have the time, which is not often.

And that's about everything that's been going on recently

Rachel Dawes: Batman Begins ~ "It's not who we are underneath its what we do that defines us."

Tassels and Palm Trees

This is an invitation for all of you who didn't know.

I am having an open house this saturday from 1-5 pm, at my house. Terribly sorry for the long interval between posts, but i have been exceedingly busy, and just havent had the time or the motivation to post.

Today really has been a pretty normal (boring and uneventful) day. Really the only thing that happened today was that Pastor Woodall decided that we would have Bible class outside, and so we all grabbed our coats and headed outdoors. Basically the idea was to scatter and have our personal devotions wherever we wanted to around the school. So naturally, being the adventerous and fearless person that i am, and accompanied by Hannah Rausch (to her credit) I decided to have my devotions on top of the old school bus. Hannah and i made it to the top, and were doing fine, when we espied Pastor Viars walking our way. Naturally, i became slightly uneasy and agitated, wondering what reaction our stunt would bring forth from Pastor Viars. Needless to worry he just made small talk with the construction workers working near the bus and then casually strolled over to where Hannah and I had positioned ourselves. Naturally he asked us what we were doing, and whittingly i replied, "we're trying to get closer to God." Very smugly he asked us if the 5 feet change of position made any difference and to that i replied, "every little bit helps." After our encounter with Pastor Viars everything went smoothly until it was time to go back in." Overall i thought that that Bible class was fun, exciting and educational.

Looking forward to the play and my weekend. It should be fairly eventful.

Thanx for reading

Big Jerk or Nice Boy

It has come to my attention over the last week or so that i seem to have two, somewhat different personalities. Either that, or, people have very different ideas concerning my personality(ies). Basically my two main personalities can be summed in two phrases:

1.) Big Jerk
2.) Yesterday was Valentine's Day and that was ok, i guess, i got to eat some candy. Later on i had to work and then a couple of people met me at Arby's after the game and we studied the english test for a while.

Today was also uneventful, the more i'm there the more i've come to realize that school is incredibly boring. We need to come up with some way to change things up a little. If anybody has any ideas let me know.

Well thats my week in a nutshell, i need to get back to work on all ten of the papers i'm supposed to be working on right now.

By the way the sexy beast has come back from the dead, supposedly he(the car garage guy) found out what was wrong with it, and said he was gonna try to get it fixed today. I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad...?

Until next time...

The Haunting Depths

Yesterday evening I was able to borrow the van, (because as you all know my truck is dead) so Jared and I decided that we should go swimming at the YMCA. We arrived at the pool around 7:45. After swimming some laps, messing around etc... we discovered some weights. So naturally, we considered it a challenge to discover what we could use the weights for, and to maximize their "fun potential" to the utmost. So we began by taking one of the 8-pound weights in each hand and allowing them to drag us to the bottom and then try to swim back up with them. This was fun for a few minutes but we soon lost interest.

First of all, i would like to mention that the following events resulted from a of dare that i received from jared that goes something like this... "jordan i bet you can't get all four of those weights from the bottom of the pool up here in one breath." Of course i asked what i got out of the deal, so jared replied that if i were to do so, he would purchase a candy bar of my choice for me. Satisfied as to the reward i proceded to bring all the weights up successfully thereby earning the candy bar.

Before i procede further in this narration i would like to clarify the rules of this "game" if you will.

1.) You must bring all objects from the bottom of the pool and place them on the side of the pool with one breath.
2.) You must bring all objects from the bottom of the pool and place them on the side of the pool in one trip.

So after i had successfully completed the first challenge jared decided to try a second. We had found another 5-pound weight and three diving rings that we decided to incorporate into our game. The goal this time was to bring all 5 weights and the 3 diving rings to the side of the pool following the rules posted above. Naturally if i was able to retrieve all the items in one attempt jared would magnanimously purchase for me an additional 4 candy bars. The pressure of the water, the weight of the objects and the pounding of my lungs weighed down upon my mind and body, but i was able to surmount the obstacles and win the "challenge."

It is most difficult to relate the next and final series of events but i will attempt to do so to the best that i am able. Jared was not satisfied with me achieving his dare, so he came up with a third and final dare. It was simply this, to bring all 5 weights and 3 rings from the bottom to the side of the pool WITH MY EYES CLOSED. At first i was speechless with incredulity. I didn't think that there was any way in the world that i could accomplish this feat. After all, the objects were on the bottom of a 12 foot pool, and the 5 weights were not light by any means. Nevertheless i resolved to try, spurred on by the offer of 100 fun-size candy bars.

My first try was unsuccessful, as were my second and third. The water and the weights combined to press my straining body unmercifully against the bottom in the seemingly crushing depths. If only it were just these obstacles that i had to surmount, but alas, i had to battle the elements of this challenge in inky blackness. As i stated earlier i was required to relinquish my goggles and close my eyes before i attempted this test of mind and body.

However, after three unsuccessful attempts i was resolved that i would succede the next time or perish in the murky depths with the objects that i so desperately tried to bring to the surface. Floundering around on the bottom of the pool, I was able to find all the weights and rings. Bracing myself, against the bottom, I pushed off and shot towards the surface, my hand reached forward in anticipation and of the successful termination of the attempt. My hand groped for the top of the pool wall, but i began to fall back down, towards the seemingly bottomless oblivion, desperately i reached for the side of the wall, but it evaded me. I felt the bottom of the pool and once again braced myself, pushed and shot towards the surface. Again i sank to the bottom without having achieved my goal. I resolved to try once more, my arms and legs ached terribly, my lungs pounded and my mind whirled. Again i braced myself, pushed off and shot towards the surface my hand broke through the wall of water, finding the wall i grasped it with one hand and racing against time i heaved one weight after another onto the side of the pool. Throwing the rings alongside the weights my head shot above the surface of the water. I opened my eyes gasping for breath, almost numb with lack of oxygen, i had succeded!

Shortly after that, jared and i got out of the pool, and showered off, get dressed and set off. If you care to learn more of the details following the successful termination of the above challenges i would recommend that you read jared's post on the subject or talk to me or jared about it.

Thanx for reading, and remember its a dangerous world out there.

The Sexy Beast

As most of you already know, i am the not so proud owner of the worst mode of transportation on the face of the planet, and naturally, and as such i am somewhat set apart from the crowd of those who drive descent respectable cars.

Lovingly nicknamed the sexy beast, my 1988 Dodge Dakota died this Friday in the parking lot after school. It was a very sad day (for further details see jared's blog). Today we were able to tow it back home, and my dad and i have ascertained that it could just be a bad fuel filter, which hopefully it will turn out to be. But in the meantime, i'm stuck at home doing who knows what. I am also faced with the fact of possibly having to buy a new car which im not really in a position to do right now. So your thoughts prayers and donations would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you all have a wonderful week,

Think about me when your out and about having a great time......

The One and Only Steph

Today i was just struck with actually how much Stephanie means to me. To clarify any misconceptions, Stephanie means the world to me. Steph and I have been friends pretty much forever. Our family goes over to the Semmel's every 4th of July, and we have an awesome time together. Also, i think that Steph has been in my Sunday school class since we were like 2. I have alot of great memories of hanging out with Steph. All this to say that Steph is a great friend, a great person, and a genius, and i feel privileged to be counted among her friends.

Randomness

Well this weekend has been really random and somewhat boring...... Friday i went to work, and then came home and played on the computer, which was fun, but soon became somewhat monatenous. Saturday, i got up,worked up on homework, and then cleaned up the house. After that i met Christopher T., at Faith and we played Coup de' etat with Mr. Sagendorf then got two movies, The Cave, and The Island.

Then we went home and watched the The Cave. It was pretty cool, except for the fact that there were random "monsters" that would just pop out and either eat someone or pull them through little cracks in the wall. This wouldn't have necessarily been bad, except for the fact that you could never really tell what the monsters were or looked like until the very end. But overall it wasn't a bad movie.

Nothing else really happened, i had a couple of interesting and possibly enlightening conversations, we'll have to see about that.

Overall it was a pretty boring weekend.....

I can't wait 'till break......

Trees, Pizza, Shopping, etc...

Well yesterday, was another exciting and fun filled day. Jared, Adrienne, and I decided that we would go over to the park that Jared found by Wildcat Creek a few days ago. Now the outing started out unfortunately, due to the fact that my brakes weren't working very well, and every time i tried to stop my brakes squeeled, and it was really annoying! A couple of wrong turns, and a police officer later, we met adrienne at Culver's, the real adventure was about to begin......

We found the park without much trouble, we parked and decided that we would walk over to the creek, to see if we could find where a certain someone had previously fallen in. We eventually found then we decided to try to get out on an island in the middle of the creek.
cided to try to get out an island in the middle of the creek.

This was somewhat of a difficult task because we couldnt really find any way onto the island without getting soaked. So, we decided to try to make a dam. Jared and I tried thowing random sticks in the creek but to bolster up the dam but they failed to get caught and just moved on down stream. We thought that we would never be able to complete the dam.

So we decided to take a different approach. We found this huge tree, that had fallen and thats base was partially stuck in the mud. We decided that we would break this mighty tree free from the crushing confines of the mud, and use it to strengthen and anchor our dam. After enduring many crushing and discouraging words from Adrienne, Jared and I set to work. We had to use all the resources that we possessed in order to succed due to the massive weight and length of the tree. To make a long story short, we succeded despite many cuts and bruises and bitter words from the onlookers.

After that we went to Pizza Hut, where we saw Kelsy. The pizza was pretty good. By the way, hot sauce, and lemon sugar water dont mix. Finally, we stopped at Wal-mart where we walked looking at random stuff, and then we went into the make-up section where jared and adrienne tried mimicking the models facial expressions and i took pictures. If you would care to examine the pictures for yourself, i would love to show you. After that exciting experience we all decided that it was time to head for home.

Oh By the way,

You can have alot of fun with a group of at least 3 people by getting the same number of straws as people and a plate full of jello. What you do is you suck little pieces of jello up through the straw, and then, shoot/ blow the jello at someone. It's a lot of fun and i would highly recomend it as a great source of entertainment.

Senior Concession Stand and other happenings...

Well last night was very interesting, a lot of random things happened, for those of you that know the details, i think it would be better for the common good, if you kept those to yourself. Anyway, moving on, Rebecca asked me to work concessions for the last game for her because she had to cheer. Somehow i ended up working concessions from 4:30 - 10:45? Don't ask me how that happened.......

So for the whole evening it was just me, jonathan h., hrefna, and emily r., working concessions. We were really busy all night, and hopefully we made alot of money. The game was alot of fun, cleanup was...... interesting, and after the games, well...... let's just say it was really...... random

But overall not a bad evening, i had a lot of fun despite the bruised stomach, the wetting and ensuing pneumonia. So, for those you who are of the opinion that concessions can't be fun, i would challenge you to think again, just make sure to stay away from water sprayers.....

If you have any further questions i would be happy to explain

Choices

I’ve been thinking a lot about decisions lately, and how they influence us. There are so many different kinds of decisions, and they all affect us differently. Some decisions are life changing, and others only change the color of the shirt you’re wearing……

Everyone makes decisions, and even if it seems as if each individual decision isn’t important our decisions are what make us who we are. Every little decision that we make will ultimately define or destroy us. Who we are directly affects the choices that we have made. We make choices of whether to go to a Christian college or a secular one, we make decisions about who we’re going to befriend or reject, we even make decisions bout whether to buy a hamburger, or a chicken sandwich at McDonald’s. Some decisions seem so important and others so superficial……

Many times we know the right decision to make, yet we make the wrong decision. Or who or what is to say which decision is right and which is wrong? Our choices now, will affect the choices that we make later on as well as the convictions we will maintain. The choices we make at present will affect how we view choices in the future. If we make the wrong choices now, what does that do to our future? And if it does have an impact on our future then why do we make wrong decisions if we know the consequences for our actions?

It doesn’t make sense how one wrong decision can destroy a myriad of good decisions or vice versa. If God gave us the power of choice, they why don’t we use the power that He gave us to return the glory to Him? Why do we try to destroy ourselves through our decisions? How can we sit by and destroy ourselves through mistaken decisions, mismanaged opportunities, and wrong turns? If one good decisions can reverse a thousand bad ones, they why do we continue to live in our misconstrued web of choices? Can we reach the point where there is no way to escape the choices that we have so foolishly made? If so can that point be reached and how long or how far down do we have to sink to reach it?

As far as I can tell there is only one way out of this mess of choices that we have gotten ourselves into. If we know that wrong choices will destroy us and if we make choices in our own strength we will make the wrong decisions, which lead us to the conclusion that we will inevitably destroy ourselves without some outside intervention. God, who gave us our power of choice, is willing to save us from our foolish corruption of that power. So, in order to extricate ourselves from this messy web of choices guess what…… we have to make ONE right decision……
Deuteronomy 30:19-20, “This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For the Lord if your life, and He will give you many years in the land He swore to give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

Mixed Feelings

I don't understand,

and I'm not sure if I want to........

Adrienne Appreciation Week

Meg and I were talking yesterday and we decided that it is about time to have an adrienne appreciation week. We just want to pay a small tribute to adrienne for all the weird pics, mean comments, outlandish behavior, and crazy friends that make Adrienne who she is. Therefore Meg and I and a few other people have been expending a tremendous amount of effort compiling pictures quotes etc..... of adrienne. I'm still working on transfering the pictures to my computer but hopefully i'll have that done sometime next week. So in the meantime i would like to grace you with a couple of sweet, kind, and uplifting quotes from adrienne.

Enjoy.....

1.) "I just build you up so that you can come crashing back down!"
2.) "Shut up!"
3.) "Yeah well.."
4.) "Corndogs. . . . . ."
5.) "Stop poking me!"
6.) "I messed up.... ooops."
7.) "i like corndogs. i think theyre funny"
8.) Herpes. The reason that i decided to post about Hrefna is due solely to the fact that she is going away in 12 days 17 hours and 37 minutes, and she's not taking me with her.... to Iceland. So, one reason for this post is expressing extreme displeasure in her decision to not taking me with her, and miss days and days of school. "Grrrrr" ~ Hrefna..... Also, just to satisfy my own curiousity i would like to know how many people are going to miss Herpes. If you will, please leave a comment to that effect, thank you. By the way, i just want you all to know that making paper airplanes is harder than it looks, and also, having dogfights with said paper airplanes, (ariel battles) is very entertaining, you should try it some time. Welp i think thats about all i have to say for now.

Have a wonderful afternoon

Friends

Today i've been asked to post about Amy M.

So....... I've known Amy for like 16 years. We were in the same Sunday school classes, had many of the same friends, our parents were friends, and we were in the same small group. I know alot about Amy, and she knows all kinds of random things about me, because our moms talk to each other about us all the time. Following this train of thought, i started thinking about all my friends and how long i've known them. It's so weird how friendships work. You can know someone your whole life, and not really know each other that well, or be really close friends. On the other hand, you can meet someone, and a month later your best friends. It's gonna be so different after we all graduate from highschool and all go our separate ways. Friends that i've known all my life will move away and I'll probly never see them again. Which leads me to the conclusion that...... i need to have as much fun with all my friends now, while i still have a chance.

Thanx for reading and remember to, "keep your stick on the ice."

My Day In A Nutshell

Well i've had several requests to post since i havent posted in forever and a day. So for all you guys here you go...

Today started out like any other day. Got up, got ready, got to school, went to all my classes. It was pretty boring until i got to lunch, then due to the turning of events, things got interesting including food all over my pants and..... as you can probly guess, all over my $75 bass slip-on shoes. In addition to all this, i had several very delicious cookies stolen from me. Now I'm currently in 6th hour study hall working on Anatomy and listening to Bowling for Soup. (If anyone would like tips on how to listen to music in school just let me know.) After this i have T.A. and then (drumroll) an anatomy test. Wish me luck. Oh btw, if any of you read Andy Costa's blog, nothing that he posted today is true. ;)

P.S. As Red Green says, "keep your stick on the ice."

Confidence - (or lack thereof)

The last couple days have just driven home the fact of how important and underated confidence is. To put confidence in someone means that you trust them and are willing to share whatever is going on in your life with them and have faith that they will keep it between the two of you. It seems recently like people really just dont take the time to develop meaningful relationships and just talk about whatever pops into their head. It all just seems so superficial. I just want to be able to confide in someone and know that whatever i say will be between the two of us.

Now that i've said that moving on:

Colts lost, they are now 13-1. - Very Depressing.
Micro final/ party tomorrow. - Final shouldn't be too hard, party could be fun
Christmas/ skiing. - Hopefully fun
School starts in January. - Don't remind me

Have a great Christmas break and a Happy New Year.

Nobody Knows

Well today since i was already sick, didnt go to church, had to call off work, and have finals starting on Monday, i decided to take a few minutes out and start a blog. Just for someplace to go to voice my thoughts, and talk about what's going on in my life. Speaking of which, my parents just told me that as an early graduation gift, they were gonna go in halfway on a really nice laptop. Also, next week im going skiing with my family in Tennessee and North Carolina for Christmas Break. It should be fun, hopefully. Should i ski, or try snowboarding? I've still got about a week to decide. Well i hope you all have a great week of finals, and look forward to seeing you all after christmas break, or maybe sooner, who knows?
